Testing Diigo and Habari

Habari Themes :: h0bbel.p0ggel.org

I recently discovered Diigo, and am testing their post to blog feature built into their toolbar with Habari. Figured h0bbel was a good link to use :-D

Did you know that currently there are thirteen publicly available themes ready for download and usage for your Habari install? Some of the themes that are available are ported from other blogging platforms, others are "pure" Habari themes that doesn’t originate anywhere else.

Have you been inspired to continue playing with Diigo? Does it import bookmarks from other services, such as del.icio.us? I have to say, I got halfway through the demo video and went “information overload” and switched off.

I have been using it pretty much exclusively. It effortlessly imported my del.icoio.us bookmarks, albeit, in reverse order which was sorta a pain, but I really like their toolbar for adding bookmarks. I haven’t used the annotation feature much yet, but I haven’t really had many new bookmarks to add lately due to being busy. All in all, it seems like a really good alternative to del.icio.us, especially considering the yahoo volatility. I was also never really happy with their “official” FF extension, and the “old-style” extension has thus far been broken in FF3 betas.

That’s a pretty good recommendation, I’ll have to give it a go. Of course I’ve just started trying out FriendFeed, and while they have a del.icio.us importer, there isn’t currently one for Diigo.

What I like most about Diigo is the ability to highlight individual sections and annotate.

So much better than commenting and having to cite.

I never really wwarmed to del.ici.ous (woeful interface) but really like the power of Diigo and the ‘right-click’ to bookmark a site. Quickly.

PS. I can’t get the ‘Send to blog’ working from Diigo to my Habari blog. I used the same settings that I used to post from Google Docs. Any ideas ?

Andy, I use the “normal” XMLRPC settings that I’ve used for other XMLRPC postings to Habari, blog ID = 1, endpoint being example.com/xmlrpc, otherwise, it’s just your username and password.

I haven’t tested the most recent version of the toolbar, they seem to be tweaking it regularly, so I’ll have to check it when I get back home.

I’ve really failed to explore all the power of diigo, but I’m quite happy with it so far.
