Howdy, I’m miklb (Michael Bishop - get it, mikl b?) I’m one of those proverbial “rare breeds”, a Tampa Florida native still living in Tampa. Now in the twilight of my 30’s, I primarily do website development as a profession, after many, many years toiling away in some of the better kitchens of Tampa as a chef. I still try to keep that door open, with the thought of eventually opening my kitchen, but for one reason or another, the timing just hasn’t been right.
I think I transitioned to website development because it has a similar synergy of art and science as cooking does. It also provides endless opportunities to keep learning, much as cooking does. Certainly that’s in my nature, as many people find a comfort zone within their profession, and have no desire to push beyond. A restaurant owner I used to work for summed it up one day after we had hired someone who claimed to have “over 20 years of experience”. After a couple of hours of working with him, Roger declared
He then not so politely showed him the door after ruining a couple hundred dollars worth of product.This guy doesn’t have 20 years of experience, he has 1 year of experience that he’s been doing for 20 years.
Anyway, I’ve never quite known what to put on my “About” page, and tend to ramble aimlessly on about random stuff, much like the rest of the site. Hopefully if you are really interested to know more “about” me, you’ll read a few posts, and leave a comment if you’re so inclined.
